NDIS Planning Process

1. Understanding Your Needs and Goals
This initial step involves a detailed understanding of your current situation, needs, and future goals. It's an opportunity to consider your current support, what's working well, and what could be improved. Consider your daily activities, community involvement, and long-term aspirations.

Key Focus: Reflect on your needs, current supports, and long-term objectives.
2. Creating Your NDIS Plan
Based on your needs and goals, you will work with an NDIS planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC) to develop your plan. This plan will outline the supports and services you require, including funding for various supports that fall under categories like Core Supports, Capacity Building, and Capital Supports.

Key Focus: Collaborate to develop a tailored plan that aligns with your goals and needs.
3. NDIS Plan Approval
Once your plan is created, it will be submitted for approval. The NDIS will review the proposed supports and services to ensure they are reasonable and necessary. Once approved, you'll receive a copy of your NDIS plan.

Key Focus: Awaiting approval and understanding the details of your finalised plan.
4. Implementing Your Plan
After your plan is approved, the implementation phase begins. This involves choosing service providers, setting up service agreements, and accessing the supports funded in your plan. You can manage your plan yourself, use a plan manager, or have the NDIA manage it.

Key Focus: Activating your plan by engaging with service providers and managing funding.
5. Reviewing and Adjusting the Plan
Your NDIS plan is reviewed periodically (usually annually). This review assesses how well your plan works and whether any changes are needed based on your needs or goals.

Key Focus: Evaluating the effectiveness of your plan and making necessary adjustments.
